A few times in my life I have encountered a book that becomes a gem and treasure like a piece of art. One such book was recently given to me: Seven Archangels, rhythms of inspiration in the history of culture and nature
This is more than just a book for all that want to know more about angels, it is a book for the artist, the religious and scientist that see the value of other fields of knowledge. Let me explain that deeper after saying a few words about the book and the author.
What makes the book so precious is the balance of wisdom, love and truth. The book is beautiful with nice illustrations pleasant for the eye. There is a precision and high quality running through all aspects of this work from the glossy paper, the beautiful cover, purple ribbon to bookmark to the seven angel paintings from the artist David Newbatt. The paintings also come with explanation of the symbols used.
The book is a brief summary of some of the main ideas and impressive research presented in two volumes: Angelology of history. Synchronicity and periodicity in history.
After holding them in my hand and browsing through them, I hope one day that they will also be translated from Slovakian to English.
This does not diminish, the value of the “Seven Archangels” on the contrary it is the only source in English to the impressive work of Dr. Emil Páleš PhD.
This book is worth reading for all those that are interested in history, art, anthropology, philosophy, angels, kabbalah, astrology and many related fields of knowledge. It is written in the tradition of a unified approach to knowledge and experience where religion, art and science become unified in the mind and soul of the reader.
The language reflects the clarity of thought and the sense for the poetic, reflecting wisdom and love. The thorough research reflects the truth behind the laws of nature.
The Author
Emil Páleš is a philosopher, philologist and mathematician living in Bratislava, Slovakia. In 1994 he founded and is leading the Sophia foundation. Seven years editor-in-chief of the Sophia journal quarterly. Páleš ranks among the few representatives of sophiology in the world carrying on Solovjov`s effort for the synthesis of sciences, humanities, arts & religion as well as the idealistic biology of Goethe and Portmann.
His 30 years of research into the periodic and synchronous time-patterns in history and the evolution of nature are of fundamental importance to many areas of knowledge. I am impressed with the extensive work and solid confirmations of the cycles he has investigated.

The first section is a nice introduction of the understanding of angels through history and their importance for historical cycles.
The next seven sections are a beautiful introduction and description of each of the sevens archangels, their attributes and influences upon mind, soul, nature and history.
If you read nothing but the conclusion you will understand the need and value of a unified approach and why science, art and religion should be unified and not separated. This will make you read the whole book.
Each historical period last 72 years which corresponds to one degree of the 360 in the platonic year of 25 920 years. It takes seven periods, each ruled by a separate archangel to make a cycle of 504 years. There are many examples of this cycle in the end sections of the book.
The main ideas is that each of the 7 Archangels rules or influences a specific time period in human history with its qualities. With mathematical skills and statistical techniques, Dr. Pales has researched and documented periodicity of 504 years in many different fields of human culture and history as well as in the evolution of nature.
Páleš says: “Angelology is a spiritual astronomy. It is a science about introspective observation of phenomena in the spiritual sky”.
Angels influence us from within. They work on a subtle level giving thoughts, ideas and inspiration, leading to deeper understanding. They inspire us to creativity and they influence our inner images and moods influencing how we relate to others.
Let me end this review by quoting the beginning of the book which can be found in the authors web page:
At a time when even high church officials no longer conceal the fact that their belief in angels has ceased, there has been a surprising turn of events: scientific research brings us a wealth of proof that the medieval teaching about angels was right after all. Creative personalities throughout history have drawn inspiration from mysterious depths of soul - and they have captured simultaneously, and across the whole world, the same aesthetic, philosophical, religious and constitutional impulses. Regardless of whether they are atheists, Christians or Native Americans, they have given accounts of identical or similar inner revelations. These revelations correspond to the traditional archetypes, angels and deities; and in history they alternate in a cyclical chronological order that was still known to medieval Christian and Arabic scholars and which has been handed down from the treasury of ancient Babylonian temple wisdom.
Let me end by saying that reading this book is food for the mind and soul as well as a healing experience.
